Well, here's the update for today. Lots of (well, ok, not lots like it had at first..nothing like the pics you saw on the news..) ash heading our way. But not suffocating or anything..just a mild nuisance. No storm yet. Still having crazy rumbling and vibrations from the volcano...but EYEMOKAY!

Monday, April 26, 2010

Well, I can't find my card reader and am too lazy to search for it right now. So here's a picture of me bored at work today..nothing new. No rumbling in the volcano today. Yesterday and the day before in the evenings there were some mighty rumblings and shakings. But of course the wind was blowing in our direction so we could hear it really well. But it seems to be pretty quiet today. All in all...EYEMOKAY!

It was rather ashy today..had to keep the windows and doors closed mostly. It ended up being insufferably hot because the sun was shining bright all day. Of course it's nothing like the amount of ash it was a week or 2 ago. So there's a blessing to count. But it was rather uncomfortable. Still no storm. Might pass us by. Woohoo. So all is good news. And..EYEMOKAY!

Not much ash so far..and very mild weather..so no worries so far.
EYEMOKAY!

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Well, the wind is changing to our direction 2mrw. And although the volcano is not as big as it was, we will be getting ashes in our direction and will have to be wearing these if we go outside. We've also had to tape up the edges of the windows as some of the ash is very fine and can get in and stick like cement to stuff and ruin it, esp. electronics, etc.. We probably won't be going outside much as there will be a bit of a storm w/ gale force winds..

So here's a shout out...those of you who pray, please pray the damage is minimal, that we're protected from too much tephra (fancy word for volcanic ash..) and that damage from the storm either like trees flying in the windows, etc.. And those of you don't..think happy thoughts.

And once again for the record: EYEMOKAY..(will let you know if I'm still ok 2mrw..hehe.. ILYAll..)

It's snowing...go figure.

So no volcano pics. Well, I can post a link to some I found..they're quite beautiful. Some of the old volcano and some of the new.
Wind has changed direction but still no ashes on our house or town. We are indeed blessed.

Well, I guess slowing down is relative...
Here's a pic and a vid from this morning taken at my work.

(Sorry..vid not such good quality..)

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Well, the good news is, it looks like it might be slowing down a bit. The bad news is that likely, if this one closes, another place will erupt. But, we shall see.
In the meantime, some pics of the lightning for you. I didn't take them because my camera's not good enough for that, but I found some online.
What you see in the background of some of the pics below that look a bit like 'rain', are actually stars.
As a friend of mine put it, the sky was so full of stars that it was like there were only stars and no sky left. Ha. It was a good night for volcano viewing. These pics don't do the subject justice.

And once again for the record: "Eyemokay!"

Volcano Parteeeee...

Hi Everyone,
I hear you're all worried about me. So I decided to make this blog to keep you updated. Will post pics & let you know I'm still alive. (I'm sure you'll get bored really quickly..) Enjoy!

Volcano Parteeee yesterday....

...and I didn't get to take photos of it cuz my camera is not good enough for that, but last night there were hundreds of huge, colourful lightning bolts in the volcano plumes... More lightning than Iceland normally sees in years..(we hardly ever get lightning because of location on globe and weather currents..)

The old volcano..which was nothing in comparison..although you could see much more lava, esp. at night..the cloud you see here is just steam from the lava melting some ice on the glacier.

Ok, more next time..ciao...

And officially....EYEMOKAY
